I initially picked up this book on a whim. I had heard good things about it, so when I saw it in the library, I decided to pick it up. I'm very happy I did.
Set in WWII, the main character is a British (not English; she's Scottish, thank you very much) spy who has been captured in France by the enemy. They're going to kill her, but first they want her to give up as much information as possible. And so she begins to tell her story. Well, her story and the story of her best friend, Maddie, the pilot that flew her into France.
While it was a bit slow to start, once things picked up, I was hooked. The main character was easy to love with her bravery and quick thinking. And it was great to read a YA book without romance that focused instead on a friendship between two young women and their roles in the war.
